The Palolo Chinese Home’s management and staff are carefully monitoring the approach and impact of Hurricane Douglas. We are working closely with Hawaii’s Health Care Emergency Management Team which is coordinating the island-wide health care needs. Palolo is prepared to handle this emergency and our Administrator Darin Yoshimoto is coordinating PCH’s Command Center. Palolo Chinese Home has comprehensive emergency plans in place for many natural disaster scenarios, including hurricane and tsunami with any resultant impacts. To ensure PCH’s readiness for a variety of situations, our staff have prepared for any potential impact on availability of water, food, electricity, medications and medical supplies. PCH is ready. While the best place for our seniors is here in the safety of the PCH, we plan to “shelter in place” and ride out the storm here. Should there be a time when it is prudent to evacuate the residents, we have carefully planned protocols in place to do so in the safest way possible.
Out of precaution for the safety of our residents, we have canceled our Senior Day Care program for Sunday, July 26, and Monday, July 27. Senior Day Care plans to reopen on Tuesday, July 28. Please do not have your Kupuna come to the center. For questions on when our program will reopen, please contact Aiza Pobre, Senior Day Care & Palolo Wellness Program Program Manager, at (808) 748-4909 or apobre@palolohome.org. Please check our PCH website periodically.
We have set up a hotline to keep you informed on the most recent updates and back-up lines in case of an emergency. Please call 808-748-4906 or check here for the latest updates on how we are keeping our residents safe during this severe weather event.
